In an interview with Billboard, CEO of BandLab, Meng Ru Kuok mentions their joy for d4vd, saying “We’re so excited and rewarded when people move on to other places, whether they stay independent or get signed by major labels.”

The focus for BandLab is being able to empower independent creators to manage their own work, and support throughout the musicians development process. Creators get royalties, and own 100% of their creation. They’re steadfast believers in allowing artists to be able to monetize, and not take commission from creators. Brooklyn breed, Vinny From the Block, producer and engineer of over 20 years has explored many realms in the music entertainment industry from recording artists like French Montana , Madison Reyes, BTS, and Axel Leon, to composing for movies and advertisements. When he isn’t producing for big brands, he’s busy at THELABSTUDIOSNYC, located in his hometown, which he opened during the midst of the pandemic.

Before Vinny leaped into his passion of music, he was a teacher in the DOE, who felt like he was wearing many hats. His responsibilities coached him to always have the energy to do more. In the long run it pushed him to do more in learning his industry, building his network, and dedicating himself to the craft: Music.

Vinny breaks down how he is able to compose for other campaigns such as Mac, Target, Walmart and so much more. Production companies pitch to music agencies with a brief from the director giving details of the mood and sound they’re looking for. After sending in the track, revisions can be anywhere from drastic to tedious changes. Let’s not forget, deadlines can be at a whim but you don’t want to miss them! He emphasizes the production company will move onto the next composer.

Although he surrounds himself with big names, Vinny works with a variation of people. He recently composed a short stories for Influencer and Digital Content Creator, Ferris Wheel Jay. The concept was to embody a Law and Order theme on crimes against New Yorkers with dramatic and suspenseful music leading up to the murder scene. Everything from the script, props, and music embodied the true essence of New York City. Vinny is able to shapeshift any musical idea into sounds that provoke the emotion, connecting you to a place or time.

Vinny elaborates on how he and Ferris Wheel Jay effortlessly created content using BandLab during their vacation in Puerto Rico. Throughout the video Jay samples a live band in a nightclub, someone playing with shakers, then the famous boricua “Wepa”, and New Yorkian “Yeerrr”. The video went viral of making a beat by sampling the sounds of the world around them. BandLab makes it super easy for their users to record or produce their music. The collaboration and with the help of Jay, began to open more doors for Vinny.

Vinny's ongoing sponsorship with BandLab is set to span the next two years, in tandem with the continuous growth of both him and the BandLab company. In September, the app initially rolled out an array of original music samples for its users. Vinny's sound pack encompasses drums, melodies, loops, one-hits, and more. For his debut release of the season, he has blended rock guitars and reggaeton elements into an exciting mixture.

In the upcoming months, Vinny will switch from producing sound packs to creating plug-ins otherly known as VST's. He produced 4 sound packs completing one each quarter a total of four sound packs in 12 months. His sound packs showed his personal taste and musical creativity. VST's are different because they are built into the BandLab internal sound library. They are finalizing concepts to create new more advanced sounding instruments for users to try out in their musical compositions.

BandLab empowers creators to start somewhere, and present numerous resources to assist their advancements. Working in favor of artists, and producers demonstrates the diligence of elevating the experience as creators. Vinny went from the block, to playing on the screens and out your speakers.
