Music Producer JayB Releases "FROSTBITE" with NYC Favorites!
Music Producer JayB Frosty has finally released his first project, “Frostbite,” after working on it for over three years. “Frostbite” is a 14-track tape produced by JayB, featuring artists who have been part of his journey and those he personally enjoys. The tape is hosted by the popular DJ Bandsome Will.
“It was fun hearing what he did. Hosting is like back in the DatPiff or mixtape era when artists would have DJs talk over the songs to hype them up,” says JayB.
Bandsome Will opens the project with New York music artist Legendary Rella on the song “Survivor” and continues for the duration of the tape. It feels like you’re listening to a live show. Bandsome Will keeps listeners entertained through the transitions, hyping up each artist as the project flows. “Bandsome Will makes the project feel alive,” JayB explains, describing the impact of having him as a host on the tape.
The transitions between songs flow seamlessly, allowing you to play the entire project without stopping. “Frostbite” includes multiple artists from New York like 917 Racks, Milani Bandz, MRI, Lil Rekk, Dripped N Filthy, Shari Marie, BTB Dezz, Serena Smart, and many more. Selecting the artists was based on the memories JayB had creating music with each of them. Everyone on the project has a special connection to JayB’s music career at different stages of his journey.
“I’ve always wanted to drop a tape as a producer, kind of like DJ Khaled,” says JayB. However, he started getting more involved as an engineer, enjoying fun studio nights and randomly making great songs. Realizing that many artists were making music but not moving forward with their projects prompted JayB to take action and bring his tape to life.
With an undertaking like this, JayB says the biggest challenge was narrowing down which songs to include. While dealing with the normal struggles and day-to-day challenges of life, doubt crept in for JayB, but he reminded himself, “What do I have to lose?” and got to work. This project is a collection of memories—a time of late nights and the smell of a party in the air. That feeling of knowing the sun is coming up after pulling an all-nighter creating magic. The good moments and the bad moments, as all music industry professionals know that the studio is not just where music is made but where artists are born, friendships end, and lives change from one song.
An array of memories and songs swarmed JayB’s head as he went through the artists and songs he wanted to include. Some of the featured songs are older, showing his versatility and growth. “Frostbite” is not just about featuring the artists but about telling JayB’s underlying story through the beat.
As a kid, JayB’s mom put him in piano classes, enhancing his love for instruments, as he was always a huge fan of music. This passion pushed him to go to school for music production. Around 2020, he started engineering, and since then, the producer/engineer has been in and out of the top studios in NYC, working with celebrity artists and continuing to build his name in the music industry.
With years of experience producing, it was overwhelming how much engineering took over. Despite focusing on engineering session after session, JayB always made sure to incorporate producing in some aspect. In 2024, the new era of music producer JayB was stamped with the tape “Frostbite,” which includes some of New York City’s favorite artists. Although more promotion is needed to push the project to the next level, the music speaks for itself. “Frostbite” is fun, dark, and real with a New York influence. It’s one of those projects you have to sit and listen to from start to finish.
