On a hot day in New York City—over 80 degrees—you can’t help but crave something refreshing and tasty. While exploring the Upper East Side, I stopped by Morelia Ice Cream Paletas where they had a wide variety of paletas, and I was excited to see they had many of my favorite flavors.
I started with the passion fruit paleta, which is a sorbet made with all-natural ingredients (as is everything at the shop). I dipped it in white chocolate but skipped the toppings—I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the combo. The chocolate ended up being a bit overwhelming, but overall, I really liked it. The paleta itself was super refreshing and reminded me of Mamita’s.
Next up: The strawberry cheesecake gelato paleta—thicker than the sorbet, with a creamy texture. I dipped it in dark chocolate and added crushed Oreo crumbs on top. This one was a 5/5 for me. The vanilla base, hints of strawberry, and the chocolate-oreo combo made it absolutely delicious.
Lastly, I went for the Dubai paleta, a limited-edition treat and a chocolate lover’s dream. Personally, it was a little too rich for my taste, but my cousin—who came along with me—was obsessed. She called it flavorful and super filling.
Paletas is a fun, creative spot where all the paletas are handmade with natural ingredients and lots of care. The staff truly values the customer experience, and you can feel the sense of community and family as soon as you walk in.
