We make things happen,” words by Adewale Adeyeni, professionally known as MTH Wally. Born in Nigeria and raised in Brooklyn, New York, MTH Wally is a 22-year-old artist and content creator. Wally has stated that his first love was playing basketball. However, when he started visiting recording studios with his friends all around NYC, a new love was developed. Little did he know, visiting those studios would be the start of a new era.
MTH Wally and his friends came together to create a group called MTH. MTH, which stands for Make Things Happen, is a group consisting of Wally and his friends; MTH Abucks and MTH Dee. They collaborated on content for YouTube, including skits and public interviews, racking up thousands of views. Eventually, Wally and the rest of his crew started to venture into music.
They've worked on musical projects together, and each has released solo work. What sets Wally's music apart in the crowded drill scene, especially prevalent in New York, is his unique incorporation of afrobeats samples. This fusion is particularly noticeable in his track titled "Misconception."
He is very proud of his Nigerian heritage, which is a big part of his identity that seeps into his music. “Afrobeat is popping right now; that's the new wave. For me, it brings a whole different energy and flow to music.” Wally has even expressed his desire to experiment with other genres like country.
Wally has also connected with other popular NY rappers like Dthangracks and Jaydot Geek. Additionally, he has collaborated on videos with a well-respected videographer in the NY drill scene who goes by @kjshotit on Instagram.
MTH Wally’s advice to current supporters and new listeners is to “Chase your dreams, never let anybody stop you. Keep your head up, stay focused, and make things happen.” The artist predicts much success for his brand over the next 5 years.
